Anxiety Therapy Online

Mindfulness Therapy is now available Online - a powerful way to heal anxiety, depression and emotional stress.

The internet brings us so much freedom to learn new things and to develop ourselves in so many ways. This also applies to the world of psychology and the possibility of finding skilled therapists and teachers from all over the world to help us better deal with our emotional life. One area of Online Therapy that is enjoying growing popularity and success is called Mindfulness Therapy.

What is Mindfulness Therapy?

It is a form of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) that focuses on helping us change the underlying habitual patterns of negative thinking and beliefs that create anxiety, depression and emotional stress of all kinds.

Mindfulness enhances CBT by bringing a very subtle and profound level of awareness to investigate the internal structure of our thoughts, memories and emotions in which we are able to remain as the observer without becoming overwhelmed by reactive thinking. We essentially learn to relate to our emotions from a position of strength and openness instead of the usual reactive process of being overwhelmed and identified with the contents that we are holding in our awareness. In Mindfulness Therapy we talk about learning to "sit" with the emotion. This is a very important change from reacting or even thinking about the emotion.

Think about how you would sit with a friend in need. You wouldn't ignore him or her. You wouldn't jump in with advice either. The art of being really helpful is to begin by sitting quietly with him or her, not thinking, not acting, but listening with an open mind and an open heart. This is how we make a real connection with the person and out of that "space" that we create by the quality of our being (rather than doing) something magical begins to take place. The person responds by opening up. We have made it safe for her to do this, She gets more in touch with parts of her experience that were previously hidden. It is in this space that real change, healing and insights arise. Now when we come to say something or act, our actions and speech will be wonderfully in tune with the actual needs of the situation and the person in pain.

This is mindfulness.

The problem for most of us is that we do not know how to be mindful of our inner suffering. We ignore it, avoid it, resist it; anything but care for it with that quality of mind that we would naturally give to our friend.

This is the beginning of Mindfulness Therapy and it works very well for anxiety and depression and other forms of emotional suffering. We learn to make friends with those parts that are in pain and then the healing begins.
